Why did my computer shut down when power got critically low?

If your computer is running on battery only and power gets critically low, Ubuntu will enter a low-power mode in which unsaved data is saved. In such a case, even if the battery runs out and your computer turns off, the data will be available when you restart. If your computer does not support such a mode, Ubuntu will shut down and any unsaved data will be lost.
